Tushita Meditation Centre

The centre was founded in 1972 to provide a place for study and practice in the Buddhist Mahayana tradition. It is located in a forested mountain landscape not far from McLeod Ganj at 2100m.

Throughout the year, introductory courses in meditation and Buddhist teachings as well as group retreats are offered. In addition, rooms and huts for individual retreats are available for experienced practitioners.

Tradition and Teacher
Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche from the Tibetan Gelugpa tradition (FPMT). Sally Barraud is the director of the centre.

Rules
The five precepts and abstention from sexual activities.

Accommodation
Single, double and multi-bed rooms. Men and women stay in separate rooms.

Meals
Three vegetarian meals daily.

Climate
Monsoon from June to September, winter months from Nov. to March.

What to bring
Flashlight, umbrella or rain gear, warm sleeping bag and warm clothing. There is a small shop where drinks, stationery, toiletries etc. are available.
