Wat Prayong Gittivararam International Meditation Center
The center is located on the outskirts of Bangkok amidst rice fields.
Tradition and Teacher
Teachings are usually given by Acharn Mae Chee Brigitte in German and English, sometimes Phra Acharn Phet gives teachings.
Meditation Technique
Observation of the breath (Mahasi Sayadaw technique), walking meditation in 6 stages, and individual techniques if they are considered appropriate for the respective student.
Rules
White, comfortable clothing (no sleeveless T-shirts or short pants/skirts). The usual 8 rules of a meditation center apply.
Daily Schedule
You can practice either in the meditation hall or in your room. For the guided meditations, everyone comes together in the meditation hall. For those who wish to completely withdraw (silent retreat), there is the possibility of individual interviews by arrangement with the teacher.
4:00 a.m. Morning chanting in the Dhamma Hall, then meditation
7:30 a.m. Breakfast
8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Walking and sitting meditation
11:00 a.m. Mindful eating
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Walking and sitting meditation
5:00 p.m. Evening chanting in the Dhamma Hall together with the monks
7:00 p.m. Guided evening meditation or lecture
Walking and sitting meditation until 9:00 p.m.
Course Duration and Dates
On the first day of each month, except in the months of April to July, a retreat begins which lasts until the 7th of the respective month.
Accommodation
Separate rooms or huts (kutis) for women and men.
Meals
7:30 a.m. Breakfast, 11:00 a.m. Lunch (vegetarian possible).
Costs
This place depends on the donations of the meditators. Recommended donation: 300 Baht (6 Euros).
Arrival
From the city center, the center can be reached in about 1 hour by taxi under normal traffic conditions (recommendation: have the taximeter turned on, fare currently approx. 400 Baht/8 Euros). It is also possible to get to Nong Chok by public transport. However, it takes considerably longer. If you come directly from Suvarnabhumi Airport to us, it only takes about 30 minutes.
